YOUNSUNG CHUNG, PRINCIPAL

Principal Younsung Chung has over 15 years of international design experience. To create places that engage the community as well as building users, he uses a connective design process that merges landscape and architecture, interior and exterior spaces, and public and private environments.

Younsung’s work on award-winning projects in sectors spanning multifamily residential buildings to urban redevelopment and not-for-profit institutions confirms his belief in the critical role context plays in design. For Dock 72, he looked to the rich environment of the Brooklyn Navy Yard; its varied industrial structures and warehouses were inspirational in his design for the mixed-use building, where stepped terraces and distinctive glazing treatments give the structure an iconic presence on the waterfront.

Other projects where Younsung has led the design include Industry City and 111 Varick Street in New York; The Wharf (Washington DC); Camp North End (Charlotte, NC); and Raleigh Iron Works (Raleigh, NC).

Younsung holds a BArch from Seoul National University and earned a MS in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University.
